2-Second Access

Open Lupa instantly from the Action Button, Lock Screen, or Control Center.

Lupa is designed to open in under two seconds so you can look up a word without losing your place in a book. There are three ways to do it. Use whichever fits your iPhone and your reading posture.

Action Button

On iPhone 15 Pro, 16, and newer, the Action Button on the side of your phone can launch Lupa instantly — even from the lock screen.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Action Button.
  3. Swipe to Shortcut.
  4. Choose Open Lupa.

Press and hold the Action Button and the camera opens, focused, ready to read.

Lock Screen

On any iPhone running iOS 18 or newer, you can put Lupa on your Lock Screen — replacing the flashlight or camera button at the bottom — so you don't have to wake into your home screen first.

  1. Wake your iPhone and press and hold the Lock Screen.
  2. Tap Customize, then tap the Lock Screen tile.
  3. Tap one of the two bottom buttons (the flashlight or the camera).
  4. Tap Remove, then tap the + in that slot.
  5. Search for Lupa and pick Open Lupa.

Now a single tap on the Lock Screen launches Lupa. On Face ID iPhones, your face unlocks the device while the camera is opening — usually under a second.

Control Center

Every iPhone running iOS 18 or newer can add Lupa to Control Center too.

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center.
  2. Tap the + in the top-left to edit controls.
  3. Tap Add a Control and search for Lupa.
  4. Drag the Lupa tile anywhere on your layout.
